Chinese Estates and its staff raise a further HK$1.54 million for Sichuan quake victims

( 15 May 2008 – Hong Kong ) Further to Chinese Estates' HK$5 million charitable donation to the Chinese government earlier to assist the rescue works, the Company encouraged its staff to raise funds for the earthquake relief effort. As an encouragement, the Company will match ten additional dollars for every dollar raised by its staff. Our staff responded enthusiastically and by 6pm today, the donation from staff amounted to HK$ 139,710, together with the Company's top-up of HK$1,397,100, the total amount of donation reached HK$1,536,810.

The donation will be passed to Sichuan Red Cross through Hong Kong Red Cross and will be assigned to support the rescue works for the quake victims.

Executive Director of Chinese Estates Holdings Limited, Mr. Lau Ming-Wai is pleased with the enthusiastic donation by the staff. He said, "This satisfactory result is the concerted efforts of our staff as well as their families and friends. We hope the donation could help the victims in the earthquake-stricken areas. Since the earthquake struck, the Company has kept close contact with our staff in Chengdu office and has offered to assist them in any way it can."

Meanwhile, Chinese Estates donates an extra amount of RMB 5 million to the Chengdu government, hoping to assist the relief and rehabilitation works effectively and efficiently.
